Todd & Tess

Our Meet Cute…

It started like most modern love stories… in an online dating app, but there was a twist! One of us, who happened to be single for the first time in 21 years and only introduced to the online dating game for three months was disenchanted with what he was finding out there, and on the cusp of giving up. The other was leaving town, for good (6:43AM text…” Good morning, Sry I haven’t been in touch for a few days. I had to make a pretty big decision to put in my 30-day notice in at work and I’ll be moving to New Hampshire in June to be closer to my family. I wanted to let you know that up front. With that said, I’d still be interested in meeting up sometime, if you are”). Neither one of us had anything to lose … Fast forward to our first meeting, which was on a Saturday, two days after she told me she was moving out of state. “Good morning, would you be interested in meeting for lunch today?” Her (After a long pause and no chat bubbles on my screen…):” Saturdays are usually my stay in and recoup days. I guess it could work, if you don’t mind me showing up in my sweats and no makeup” Me: “That sounds perfect, no pressure, come as you are. How does a burger and a beer sound? I know a great place near my place downtown, Abbey Burger Bistro”.

As promised, she meets me in her sweats, no makeup, and hair pulled back in a pony tail, and I wore the outfit seen in most of my dating app profile pics; jeans, t-shirt, baseball hat, and Vans (I wanted her to be sure it was the guy she saw online; NO bait and switch!). It was clear neither one of us was trying to make a strong first impression, until she stole a piping hot tater tot from my plate before the bartender could even set it down! That’s when I knew this was going to be a fun date …Three hours later, it was time to say goodbye, but not before I gave her a gentle bro hug and said “I like you, this was a lot of fun. I would like to see you again” And the rest, well, you’ll just have to read all about it here in our blog.

We genuinely hope that our dating experiences and tips will help inspire you to grow closer to your person and take some of the guess work out of your planning.

Cheers!
