The Cocktail Surprise Date

Sagamore Spirit Distillery - Cocktail Making Class

Libation Celebration!

Tess and I love a good whiskey and we usually drink them neat (straight) or on a rock depending on the heat (strength), quality, and/or taste etc. We also enjoy sampling new and different types/brands of whiskey. However, it was not until she gave me a surprise gift for a cocktail making class at Sagamore Distillery that my love and excitement for mixing our favorite whiskeys came to life.

This experience/date made such a lasting impression on me that I had to share it with a couple of my close guy friends. As we got to talking, they were intrigued and inspired and wanted to bring their wives to share that experience with them as well.  so I said “Hey, why don’t I plan a group date for the six of us and we can surprise them!”. They loved the idea. We picked an evening that worked for all of us and let our significant others know to clear their calendars that Friday night… The guys had something special planned, but it was a surprise!

Steps for setting up this surprise date:

  1. Whether you are into whiskey, beer, or other spirits just search for a local brewery, distillery, bar or restaurant that might offer these types of classes. We live near Baltimore and Sagamore is a local whiskey distiller that happens to offer a unique cocktail class ranging from the classic’s i.e., Old Fashioned, Manhattan etc. as well as a create your own cocktail.

  2. Pick the date that works best for you and your crew

  3. Sagamore has cool a gift shop, indoor and outdoor bars and a gorgeous view on the water so stay a while and make a night of it.

  4. We happened to have a football in our car so the six of us ended up playing on the lawn for an extra unexpected element of entertainment.

  5. Cheers!

This date was such a success and we not only learned some pretty cool tips and tricks of the trade; we also made an impression on our significant others that will last a lifetime. And that’s what it’s all about; Life Experiences!
